Research Activity
Brief Research Description
Co-chair in multicenter, randomized trials (ARMYDA trials) focused on Interventional pharmacology, e.g. optimization of lipid-lowering and antiplatelet therapies in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. These studies were published on the main international, cardiological journals (Circulation, European Heart Journal, JACC).
Research activity is also focused on international registries regarding prevention of thromboembolic complications in patients with atrial fibrillation by using newer oral anticoagulant agents and by implementing interventional, non-pharmacological approaches.
Spontaneous, local research projects also include: new treatments in patients with heart failure; pathogenesis of coronary artery disease; role of inflammation in atherosclerosis; lipidic targets in patients with very high cardiovascular risk; transcatheter procedures related to aortic, tricuspid and mitral valve; diagnostic and prognostic role of more recent echocardiographic techniques; innovative techniques of cardiac pacing; machine learning for stratifying the cardiovascular risk; contemporary techniques of coronary stenting and angioplasty.
