Brief Research Description
Clinical aspects relation to lung function, airway hyperresponsiveness, non-invasive biomarkers (e.g. FeNO) and comorbidities in asthma/severe asthma and COPD patients in a model of real life experience.
Translational research based on the role of inflammatory and remodelling biomarkers in induced sputum and exhaled breath from mild to severe asthma and COPD patients.
Basic research on the role of airway epithelial cells and fibroblasts in chronic airway inflammation (type 2 and non-type 2 cytokines) and remodelling (matrix, vascular and neural growth factors).
Alpha -1- antitrypsin deficiency (basic research and clinical management and treatment).
Respiratory pharmacology in bronchial asthma, COPD and allergic diseases: active in conducting clinical studies in Phase II and Phase III.
Research approach based on the design of "customized" drug delivery systems suitable to improve the tolerability, selectivity and efficacy of drugs currently used to treat chronic lung diseases administered orally, are under developing projects relating COPD and Interstitial lung disease .
