Brief Research Description

I mainly work on the following topics:

• I am involved in multicentric studies aiming to build predictive models of response to antirheumatic treatments, in particular in Rheumatoid Arthritis;

• Interstitial lung diseases (ILD): I am involved in clinical and laboratory studies focused on the pathogenesis and management of ILD, particularly when caused by an underlying lung disorder;

• Long COVID: during the pandemic era, I have focused my research activity on the consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection, both during the acute phase of disease and in post acute COVID syndrome

• My research are also focused on the clarification of the mechanisms of activity of a relatively novel biological system (Gas6 and TAM receptors) which acts and the interplay between inflammation and fibrosis

• As coordinator of the Aging Project at DIMET my research is also focused on clinical projects aiming to improve the care of elderly and frail sujects
