ALUFFI VALLETTI Paolo
Research Activity
Brief Research Description
His main fields of interest regard prognostic factors and clinical-pathologic markers of a) head and neck cancer with special reference to HPV-related oropharyngeal carcinomas and b) thyroid malignancies, including studies focused on functional (vocal) and biochemical (hypoparathyroidism) outcomes impacting on the quality of life of patients after thyroid cancer surgery.
He is actively exploring novel treatment modalities in the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), specifically upper airway neurostimulation through the surgical implantation of hypoglossal nerve stimulating devices.
Moreover, in the field of rhinology he is involved in multicentric clinical trials analyzing the role of biologic medical treatment (with monoclonal antibodies) in the management of severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP).
